Most health-related innovation talks about the power of mindfulness, which might have you asking – What’s all that about? Unlike other health claims, mindfulness has been repeatedly shown across multiple studies to have a positive effect on your health, from less stress and anxiety to building positive coping skills. Most individuals are continually operating in an automatic state, which can be called a state of mindlessness. In order to break out of habitual ways of being, mindfulness can help us see where unhealthy behaviors are negatively impacting our lives. Numerous research studies have shown how the awake presence that is cultivated when practicing mindfulness results in self-regulation and overall well-being. In a study published in the American Psychological Association, researchers found improvements in clarity, attention, flexibility, and self-consciousness after study participants practiced mindfulness-based techniques. This study uncovered a correlation between mindfulness and well-being that helps prove the power of cultivating an awake presence.
