You matter. You deserve to be loved by the people around you and you deserve to love yourself. Nurturing your self-esteem is the best thing that you can do for yourself and the people that you love. How you feel about yourself has everything to do with what you are willing to allow into your space. Not loving yourself is a learned behavior, and if it isn’t working for you so far, maybe it’s time to learn a new habit that will bring happiness to yourself and the world around you. Most of us are quite good at chastising ourselves on a constant basis. If we make a mistake, we’ll think “I’m such an idiot!” or “I can’t do anything right.” The first step to loving the self is showing yourself kindness and compassion when you make a mistake. Tell yourself that it’s okay to slip up, and that mistakes are how we learn. Lighten up a little. Focusing on the positive is also a great way to begin showing yourself love. Write a list of all the nice things that you did today. Were you a shoulder to cry on for a client or a friend? Write it down. Did you smile at the grocery clerk who seemed like they were having a bad day? Write it down. Did you do anything, even the smallest thing, to make someone’s day better? Write it down. We spend far too much time focusing on what we do that we think is wrong, instead of what we do right. Changing your focus will have a direct impact on how you feel about yourself.

It is said that healers are not made, but rather they are born. For some of us, there is an innate need to serve that is encoded into the fabric of our very being. Healing comes from a deep and genuine place of love and care, but healers often give away so much of...

When our mind, body, and spirit are in alignment, our state of being is balanced. We treat our bodies well, we respect ourselves, and we feel connected to everyone and everything around us. We experience joy and a sense of well-being. Life seems to flow easily because we aren’t fighting ourselves. The mind creates emotions, which are really just physical responses to thoughts that we’re having. Negative thoughts create a stress response in the body, which isn’t healthy when it’s a common occurrence. Positive thoughts cause the brain to send out natural chemicals like serotonin and endorphins, which are healing to the body. A healthy, happy mind is also in alignment with the spirit, which always wants what’s in the best and highest good for us. If you want a healthy, happy life, then all three parts of yourself need to be taken care of. Eat well and exercise, be kinder to yourself, and remember to take some time each day to feed your soul.
